    The Systems Bid Engineer works in the Sales Team to create winning security audio solutions that deliver client value, are technically viable and profitable for Zenitel. This role is part of the sales team and supports the growth of Zenitel BU Transportation Solutions business. Focus is on understanding best fit for purpose Zenitel solutions in Rail Infrastructure, Rail Rolling Stock, Tunnels and Airports. Especially focus on the design of Zenitel products and solutions into specifications, compliance to specifications given by customers and by providing the delivery of accurate and timely quotations and bids.

    Key Responsibilities

     

    •  Produce accurate and detailed quotations, presentations and systems proposals for project bids.
    •  Evaluate and clearly understand the details and requirements for each tender
    •  Be one of the Sales team's technical solution experts, understanding all existing and upcoming products and solutions and introduce these both internally (to sales team, project team and others) and externally (to customers/consultants) in different ways to fit requirements from the market.
    •  Very close link to the company's Product Management team to get all needed product and solution information in order to keep Sales and Customers up to date on any important changes in our offering.
    •  Ensure unique selling points of Zenitel products & solutions are up to date and frequently communicated to Sales Team and customers, especially new things.
    •  Know competition well – who are we up against and what are the main gaps that needs to be filled in our solutions up against our most important competitors.
    •  Identify product/solution portfolio enhancements
    •  Participate in the improvement of processes by communicating ideas & suggestions, as well as resolving problems you encounter.
    •  Liaise with strategic end customers and specifiers/A&Es to influence requirements and drive supplier preference both in the UK and Globally.
    •  Commercial Project Management/Bid Management
    •  Make internal and external powerpoints, application sheets and other commercial documentation to support the above.
    •  Ensure business solutions are aligned with goals, strategy and priorities

    Skills & Attributes

    Must have:

    Knowledge & Experience

    Must have:

    • Minimum 2 years of experience working with Technical Support/Bid support

    • Experience in the design, estimating and bid management of system-based projects

    • Demonstrable mix of Technical and Commercial understanding

    • Existing knowledge of PA/VA systems design and implementation on major international projects

    Desirable:

    • Knowledge of other IP Telecom Systems & Integrations e.g, Telephones, Intercoms/Help Points, Passenger Information Displays, CCTV, Control Systems, IP Speakers, etc

    • Transportation industry experience

    Must have:

    · Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field

    Desirable:

    Our Project Engineers technically support a project from inception though the whole life cycle of design and implementation, factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing.

    Responsibilities

    • Assembly of and configuration of Control System products, including all interfaces to third-party systems, with a disciplined approach to system configuration, backup, and restoration.
    • Configuration of IP Public Address & Voice Alarm systems to interface with Control Systems.
    • Produce project-specific design and test documentation for Control Systems.
    • Produce all required customer and internal handover documentation.
    • Produce project-specific user’s reference documentation, maintenance manuals and deployment guides.
    • Understand the company processes, and work within them.
    • Design and support customer upgrade and migration plans.
    • Troubleshoot and maintain knowledgebase for PAVA and Control System products.
    • Support service desk activities as required for in service systems.
    • Opportunities to travel both in the UK and internationally, to support local teams in the implementation and in-service support of customer projects.

    Knowledge / Skills:

    • Platform engineering
    • Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking knowledge with a good understanding of Multicast.
    • Ubuntu or Debian based Linux system administration - main technologies been used are:
    • System services
    • Postgres SQL
    • XMPP inter process communication
    • XML configurations
    • SIP and Asterisk
    • Bash and Python skills

    Education / Experience:

    • Degree level qualification in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science, or similar; Vocational and work based learning also welcomed

    We are now looking for a Development Engineer, and the place of work for this position is Horten or Oslo. 

     

    About you

    You are a trained engineer at bachelor's or master's level in design or mechanics, or can demonstrate solid relevant work experience. You have broad knowledge in design, construction, materials and production processes. You are enthusiastic, curious and interested in the subject. We would just as like to hear from you who come straight from school as from you who have been in working life for a few years.

    You are engaged by good solutions, and do not give up until you have arrived at a result that is both of technically good quality and that delivers the necessary result for the project. You are a highly skilled 3D designer, but are comfortable in a workshop and are happy to build a prototype if that is the best way to solve the problem in question.

    You are skilled at idea and concept development. From sketches to prototypes. You have a keen eye for detail, but don't lose track of the big picture. You can deliver quick iterations to solve specific work tasks, but also think holistically and see how solutions are connected across products and product lines.

    You are well versed in design for production and production processes and can actively participate in discussions with manufacturers to find the optimal balance between good products and efficient production.

    You are curious about new technology and interested in how good technical solutions can help create better products. And you dare to question established truths and practices.

    You know that behind every quality product lies a thorough design process that takes into account all stages from the end user all the way back to the manufacturing company. And that "who will buy the product", "who will use it", "what problem it will solve" and "how it will be produced" are just some of very many questions in a process that together determine the quality of the design.

    You collaborate well with others, can work independently with demanding tasks, see what needs to be done, take responsibility for deliveries and can be creative even within established frameworks and routines.

    We have English as our working language, and to succeed in this position, you must be fluent in written and spoken English.

     

    About us

    Our design team is located at our offices in Horten and Torshov in Oslo. Today, the team consists of 12 employees divided into designers and engineers in mechanics and electronics. We work both with further development of existing products and new development of completely new solutions. We design every part of our products ourselves – electronics, software, user interfaces and mechanics – and can therefore shape the entire user experience from start to finish. We believe this makes it extra exciting – and quite unique – to work with us!

    We have our own prototype and test lab and manufacture our products in Europe. For 3D construction, we use Creo.

    We are looking for a committed and skilled project engineer to our project department in Horten. The project department works with deliveries of large and medium-sized communication and information systems to customers all over the world. Our systems are used on ships, wind turbines and oil and gas installations.

    The project department is responsible for all planning, design and configuration, as well as testing and handover to the customer. After delivery, the project department often participates in commissioning on site and performs service as agreed. Our skilled engineers also work closely with the sales department to ensure high quality and optimal technical solutions already in the quotation phase.

    We are looking for you who are passionate about working with design, engineering, and project management of system deliveries to our customers. If you have experience from a similar position, it is a plus, but not a requirement. You are also welcome to apply if you do not have all the required expertise, but are passionate about technology and eager to learn.

    Your tasks will include:

    As a project engineer at Zenitel, you will work with system deliveries. Some projects you will have sole responsibility for, other times it will be in collaboration with colleagues in the department in Horten or other departments in Zenitel. You will be responsible for ensuring that all project deliveries are in accordance with the customer's requirements, regulations and standards. As a project engineer, your primary tasks will be the design and engineering of projects, drawing the systems in AutoCad (rack drawings and electrical diagrams) and system integration. In addition, you will work with:

    • Participate in project meetings, coordinate with the project manager team, be a point of contact for customers in their own projects
    • Sales support with design and verification of solutions (technical documentation and drawings)
    • Attend FATs
    • Technical support both on-site and remote

    Desired qualifications:

    • 3-year relevant education with technical understanding, preferably electronics engineer
    • Interest in, and preferably knowledge of, telecom/communication systems
    • Drawing in AutoCAD
    • Network knowledge is desirable but not required. Training/courses will be provided.
    • Be able to write and speak fluently in both Norwegian and English
